Miniature worlds
Slinkachu
Slinkachu has created the images above by using small figurines next to large everyday objects. The appearance of using the everyday objects make the people seem even smaller creating the effect of a huge world. Slinkachu uses aperture to blur out the unwanted areas and focusing on the detail. He uses a range of tones and textures to make the images more appealing to the audience and to add more interest. Slinkachu uses the small characters to reflect loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city. He also wants to reflect humour as he wants people to empathise with the characters in his work. His project started in 2006 where he would set up scenes of small people in the streets, shoot a photograph and leave the scenes where he set them up. His first project was called 'Little People In The City' which he used also as an art installation.
Who- A photographer that creates miniature world images
What?- He creates miniature world images using depth of field to create the appearance of a small person in a big world.
Why?- To show everyday objects with a different perspective.

Slinkachu- Scars
I like this image because:
1.It shows hidden meaning behind war and loss.
2.It shows the feeling of the miniature person that is pain of loss (this example shows loss of loved ones in war) in which slinkachu wants to show in his work and relay this to his audience.
3.He uses composition to make the person seem lonely as there is nothing in his background and surroundings.
This image is unusual because:
1. It shows hidden meaning
2. He uses dull colours to create a melancholy atmosphere.
Formal elements:
1.composition
2.colour
3.line
I think that the photographer was interested in showing his audience how loss and pain can effect a person even if it is not physical or can be seen from the outside.

Miniature world shoot 1
Aperture
Aperture is when the main object is in focus and the background or the unwanted space is blurred out.
For these pictures I used: f4.5. To create depth to our pictures we used small army figures in outdoor and indoor spaces to give the effect of a different world.

WWW- I used aperture to capture depth in my photos. This helped to create the effect off small people in a large world.
EBI- I could have thought through each picture more, giving each one more of a detailed story behind them.
N/S- I could plan out how each picture can tell a story.

WWW- There is a variety of tones and colours used and a shallow depth of field.
EBI- I tested taking images with a deeper depth of field.
N/S- take a variety of images experimenting with deep and shallow depth of fields.

Miniature World shoot 4
This is my plan and pictures from my fourth photo shoot using aperture.
Miniature world- Shoot 4
Shoot 4-(edited)
WWW- I portrayed the image of a miniature world using a large background and using every day objects to create this vibe.
EBI- The background used more colour in order to make them less dull.

Miniature world shoot 5
WWW- In my images I used composition to create the feeling of a miniature world. My shoot 1 and 2 in this particular shoot was the strongest due to the lighting in my photographs and the way it was planned out.
EBI- I could create similar pictures re-creating famous battle scenes.

Ideas
For my next shoot I am going to recreate some of the images above using miniature people. The theme of conflict inspired this idea because I can show it through the scenes I am going to create. I will use dull colours to create the feeling of danger and sadness and use texture and composition to make the miniature scenes similar to those above. I can create the backgrounds from every-day objects and my surroundings and create the props (flags etc.) from every-day objects as well.
Shoot 6
I created these images by using a shallow depth of field to show how the iconic war photos that I created were shown as part of a miniature world.
"Tank man"- Tiananmen (recreation)
(edited)
Battle Iwo Jima Flag Raising- (recreation)
WWW- I replicated the iconic war images through composition of the characters and vehicles. I also used the background to show in proportion how big the characters really are.
EBI- The lighting in the first shoot wasn't as bright because I used natural lighting which made the images slightly over-exposed.

The Mushroom Savanna became his first “Foodscape”. He creates the images in hist studio on a large triangular table top. They are photographed in layers starting from the foreground to background. These layers are then put together to create the final piece. These photographs are hard to set up and capture due to the food wilting or going bad during the process. All of his images are carefully planned and drawn so he knows exactly how and where everything will go.
My plan for the following shoot:
Food shoot
How was this shoot created?
We created a scene out of sweets (gingerbread men, marshmallows, snow bites and candy floss). The camera was set to Av and then we experimented with manual and auto focus. We then used a deep depth of field to take our pictures using f.22.
Critique
www- We created a scene using just food.
ebi- If we didn't get people in the background
n/s- Use a bigger background.
